A free timeline on social media that lets you share your personal timeline, friends, and other content is a great way to keep people informed of what’s happening around you, but it can be tricky to keep them engaged.
Here’s how to create your own.
1.
Set up your own timeline with a theme A free online timeline that lets your friends share content is one of the easiest ways to make sure your content is accessible to others.
However, you may find it easier to create an online timeline with an aesthetic or a theme.
To do this, you’ll need to create and share a custom timeline.
This is where you’ll be able to share your content and invite others to join in on your conversation, without needing to be an active participant in your timeline.
To create a custom online timeline, visit https://twitter.com/mytimeline.
Once you’ve set up your timeline, click on the “My Timeline” button and choose the theme that best fits your audience.
Next, click “Set Up.”
To set up a custom personal timeline on Twitter, choose “Set a Custom Timeline” and follow the prompts.
You’ll be taken to the Settings page.
Select the “Personal Timeline” option and enter the email address of the person who created the custom timeline you’re creating.
This email address can be changed if needed.
Next enter the name of the account that created the customized timeline.
For example, “[email protected]”
Next, you can enter your username, which can be customized if you need it.
Next you’ll get to a “Start a New Conversation” screen.
Here you can add an optional comment and choose a name for the conversation.
You can also set a custom date to follow the conversation, if you’d like.
Click “OK.”
After you’ve added your comment, you should see a new tab appear on your timeline with your comment.
On the screen that appears, select the “Customize” option to add your custom timeline as a follower.
If you’d rather not use a custom follower, you could also set your timeline as “No Comment,” and just ignore it.
Now, the conversation will automatically follow you when you tweet a reply to a message.
Click on the tweet to follow it.
When you’re finished with your conversation with your friend, you’re ready to share the timeline with them.
2.
Make your timeline visible to others You’ll want to set up an invitation feature so that others can see your timeline when you’re offline, and you can do this by adding a comment to your timeline or by adding your friends to the invitation.
To make your timeline available to others, visit the “Start an Event” screen and choose “Invite a Friend.”
On the invite screen, you will be asked to choose who will be invited to your conversation.
Click the “Invoke Friend” button.
When the invitation screen appears, a link will appear at the top of your timeline that allows you to “Add a Friend” or “Add Someone Else.”
On this screen, click the “Add Friend” link and select your friend.
After you’re done adding a friend, the invitation will automatically invite a second friend to your conversations.
You should be prompted to select your friends from a list.
Select your friend and then click “Invites.”
After a second or two, the invite will automatically add your new friend to the conversation and they’ll appear in your friends list as well.
3.
Follow people to see who is tweeting to you Before posting to Twitter, you want to make it easy for your followers to see what’s going on in your feed.
To follow someone who is sharing your timeline to follow, simply select their timeline and click “Follow” at the bottom of the timeline.
You will be prompted for a name and a nickname.
Choose a username and then follow your favorite account.
After a few minutes, you and your friend will both see tweets from that account.
If there’s a new tweet that follows your friend’s timeline, your friend may see a notification that says, “Twitter is listening!”
If there are no new tweets, you might see a confirmation message from Twitter that says: “You have permission to share this timeline to a friend.”
This will make it easier for you to follow them.
4.
Watch people’s reactions to your tweets When you are tweeting to someone, it’s important that they’re aware of what you’re saying.
To keep them informed, make sure to include hashtags that you want them to know are in your conversation and that you have a reason to keep following.
To check whether a tweet is from a friend or a stranger, simply click on their timeline.
The “Who is tweeting?” option will appear.
You may see the name and the account associated with that account, but the only way to know whether a message is from someone you follow is to watch it.
To watch someone else’s tweets, click their timeline, select “View Tweets,” and select “Tweet.”
